Seems like you would need an input of # bars to average over and then you'd need to keep updating that average as each bar is plotted. Prediction markets produce probabilistic forecasts, so even if they were saying there was a 90% change a recall would happen, there's still a 10% chance it will not.

And given we're talking about probabilities, prediction markets are never "right" or "wrong." To criticize them for not being "right" on a particular issue is not representing them fairly.

In addition, given they are probabilistic forecasts, to prove they "don't work" you would need to look at the data of hundreds of results and say reality did not match up to probabilities. Whether you've actually done that analysis or not, in the future I would suggest qualifying your comments about prediction market results with the above caveats and if you haven't done the analysis, perhaps not be so quick to be as critical as you are.

Re: Billionaire Ken Fisher Explains His Biases

I have no brief on this guy, but I think its kind of funny - he complains about someone else's advertising, and then you go to his site and his site is loaded with advertisements. This is just weird. If you look at the filings, Mish says he works 30 hours a week on the blog so that's a full time job almost. They've got no more than 5 employees. Maybe its really just these two? Even if its another three people working there, they probably all have other full time jobs too! A small firm is fine in my book but not if it's this much of a cluster ef. You have to wonder if their clients know that nobody is minding the shop.

Mary Higgins

Re: Empty Flats Spell Trouble in China

Having empty flats in china sounds like it could be major trouble for that location! They're based in California, but the owner works FULL TIME for Amgen in Washington, or at least that's what he reports to the SEC.
